An optional ballistic blanket/litter may also be used with the BLS. Each blanket measures 24” x 41” and weighs 15lb. The blankets are constructed of soft armor rated to NIJ 3A protection. The blankets roll up for compact storage. Two blankets may be connected to each other head-to-toe for a larger protected area of 24” x 78”. The blankets easily attach to the ladder with pins and cinching straps to create a ballistic shield and ladder combination. An optional wheel kit can be quickly connected to the ladder to create a rolling shield.
Further, the connected blankets may be used as a litter. Handles around the perimeter of the blankets facilitate transport of a patient.
